The women’s wing of the Ladders to Heaven Church took a different approach to the proclamation of the gospel recently when they prayed for the sick ward by ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre.

Chairperson of the group, Pastor Judith Macheso, said the purpose was to inspire hope and spiritual life in the patients.

She said the church recognises the temptations people face when they go through suffering; hence, the visit to encourage them to hold onto their faith in Jesus Christ.

Macheso said besides praying with them, the group also donated some food items.

“We intend to make it a routine programme because life becomes extremely hard and susceptible to temptations when one is sick. We pray that God will provide us with the resources for carrying out the programme,” she said.

Macheso said the wing is currently mobilising resources for caring for orphans in Bangwe where child destitution is said to be on the rise.

“We have 40 orphaned children benefitting from our charity work. We provide partial payments to their school fees, food items and accommodation. We may scale up the programme should resources allow us,” she said.
